Life is a bungy. Jump right in.

(Doing my 134m jump at The Nevis Bungy, Queenstown, N.Z. in 2016)

This message is the core philosophy of Act On It Coaching.

Standing on the edge of the platform, I had two choices. Trust, take the leap of faith and have an incredible experience. Or, take what could be deemed as the safe option, retreat and regret it, never knowing what it would have felt like, or how it would have impacted my life. I had come so far and had wanted to make this leap almost ten years before but had never signed up, let alone got to the platform’s edge.

Fear was holding me back.

I heard the countdown, “3-2-1”, from the team behind me and on “BUNGY!”, jumped without hesitation. I’d already made the decision to do it and I had to follow through to get the results I wanted – to overcome a fear, to enjoy a great experience and make a lasting memory of something I could be proud of.

That’s what Act On It Coaching is all about, overcoming what’s holding us back and following through on the actions needed to achieve our goals.

No bungy jumping (necessarily) required!

In situations where I feel fear creeping in, trying to prevent me from doing something that will ultimately benefit me,  I now say (quietly or out loud, depending on the circumstances), “3-2-1, Act On It!” to push myself into action before I can start overthinking and making excuses! Mistakes are inevitable, but without them, there can be no success, no business expansion and no confidence building or personal growth.

Do you ever feel like hesitation gets in the way of your progress?

Your own “edge of the platform” moment where you feel lacking in confidence and self-esteem may be:

– preparing to pitch to investors

– choosing what projects to progress with

– getting ready launch your product or service

– having “innovator’s block” and not sure how to move forward creatively

– struggling to put pen to paper and write that book

– waiting backstage about to perform

– speaking in public, when you’ve been used to working on your business behind the scenes

Whatever it is….

Make the decision, then ACT ON IT!

If you are seriously thinking of investing your time and money in coaching services, then you need to know something about the coach and their credentials to see if working with them is the right choice for you.

If you’re just stopping by, here’s a brief bio about me written in the third person to sound smarter:

Charlotte Rose Keating, a Life, Business and Creativity Coach based in Dublin, Ireland, helps high achievers who feel unfulfilled take action to make the changes needed so that their goals become a reality.

My Story

Charlotte Keating Life and Business Coach Act On It Coaching Dublin

I grew up near Dublin, Ireland, where I currently live. I graduated from Trinity College (TCD) with a Law degree and then decided to diversify and study business, so went on to train and practice as a Chartered Accountant in some of the Big Four firms in Ireland and the USA. This was quite a leap for me, as I struggled with mathematics at school.

In this photo, I’d just received my Accounting Certificate- knowing that blood, sweat and tears went into getting it, you couldn’t wipe that smile off of my face!

My favourite aspect of this work was coaching trainee accountants and junior staff members. I realised that helping people to feel confident and boosting morale was what rewarded me most.

After over six years of combining this work with my love of amateur theatre on the side, I took some time out from corporate life to pursue acting on a professional basis.

Then one day, an actor friend sent me details for a Life Coaching Certificate course,  remembering that I had said I’d like to be a life coach one day. It was true, though I still don’t know exactly where I first heard the term-probably from watching Oprah on my study breaks! So, without hesitating, I booked my place on it straightaway and haven’t looked back since, going on to get a distinction in my Diploma and becoming an Accredited Practitioner Coach with the IAPC&M (International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentoring) and certified Trainer (Distinction, QQI Level 6).

My initial thoughts were that this qualification would be helpful for my own self development and useful to have in my back pocket while I worked on other things.  But…once I started coaching clients during my training, I knew this HAD to be part of my life, right now.

Why?

Facilitating people’s breakthroughs is such a privilege for me.

There is something so special about witnessing a person have an “A-ha” moment, equally, the satisfaction a client has when they make gradual progress to get them where they need to go.

The moment the client is guided to have the realisation about what has really been holding them back and then makes the decision to take the actions needed to turn their lives around is very rewarding.

It is wonderful to finish a session knowing that the client has increased clarity on what they want and why they want it, greater confidence in themselves and their ability to achieve, along with the knowledge that they have a strategy in place and a person in their corner who wants them to succeed and will not only encourage and support them, but will also gently challenge and hold them accountable so that they get their results.

During my own breakthrough, I realised that I was a coach, just as much as I was an actor and a writer. That all three combined to be my vocation in life. I will also always be a Chartered Accountant, but now I help people to set strategies for their lives (part of which may be their business!).

Because I’ve gone through personal and professional changes in my own life and understand the challenges and feelings associated with it, I want to help others with their own growth and transformation. I understand your pain of wanting more as I’ve felt it too. It hasn’t always been plain sailing and I have suffered loss and hard times, but studying personal development and being coached myself has improved my quality of life so much and helps me to deal better with those not-so-good times.

I would love to help you grow in confidence and create the life you want and deserve.

P.S. A few more facts about me that mean faster success for you:

  • I had a fear of numbers and struggled with Maths at school- headache inducing! I learned how to “re-train my brain” to approach study and learning better, so that I could pass my Accountancy exams and qualify as a Chartered Accountant. This  may be something that helps serve you in succeeding in your goals.
  • Creativity is a massive part of my life and I am passionate about helping people tap more into their creative sides to develop their careers or businesses, enhance their lives and feel more fulfilled.  When I’m not coaching, I love to act and write. For fans of the Vikings TV show, I shared a short scene with Ragnar and Athelstan as a shield-maiden in Season 3, Episode 5. Also, I’m happy to say that the first draft of my novel is now complete and I’m in the process of editing it.

Maybe you’d like support and encouragement as you take on a new creative pursuit, or further develop a passion of yours? Taking the first step to living a more creative life takes courage, as it requires letting go of certainty- and I’m here to help you on your journey.

  • I’ve been described as very approachable and having a gift of putting people at ease… I will also challenge and provoke you to action to help you get the results you want- that’s my job!
  • On a path of continuous improvement myself, I am coached in various aspects of my life regularly. This, combined with on-going professional development enables me to be at my most effective when coaching you.
